Most of Sidcup was built between the wars: streets of hipped-roof semis in clay or concrete tiles, bay windows with their own little roofs, and a flat-roofed garage or rear extension on nearly every house. Closer to the station and the High Street there are older Victorian and Edwardian houses with slate roofs and big chimney stacks. Ninety years on, a lot of those original roofs are reaching the end of their life.
